Very Spook Eee. Again.

Remember Very Spook Eee?

He's grown!

He still enjoys his mama's milk.

It's funny how the cattle have the entire field and yet they all stand so close together.

Or maybe it's because I had my camera and they decided that they wanted a group shot.

Celebrating Sophie

We have been celebrating Sophie for the past 2 days.

She has managed to have two parties....and two cakes!

Yesterday morning we headed to the Pilgrimage at Cormac for St. Anne.  This is also known as the 'outdoor church' in our house.  I love going to this Mass every year.  Sophie loved it because so many people were wishing her a 'Happy Birthday'.

Sophie and Lydia also loved it because they got to shop before Mass.  They each bought a necklace with a cross this year.

The showers had been 'going around'....and missing us....until the very end of Mass.  I took this photo about 3 minutes before the downpour happened....you can see the dark clouds towards the right.  We had umbrellas but we still got soaked....and I mean SOAKED.

It was actually sort of funny how everyone made a run for it as the final blessings were being said.  We were answering the prayers as we all ran....

We came home and dried off and then had a small party for Sophie.  We invited the grandparents over for supper.

Sophie wanted a dolphin on her cake, so we made this....

And then we made another one for the second party today....we had friends and cousins over for a swim in Grandma and Grandpa's pool.

The weather was so cold it really wasn't a pool day....I was ready for a hot chocolate.  But they swam and played in some slime and had some fun.

I can't believe she is 7 already.  I let her get her ears pierced.

Visiting Dwyer's

There was a bit of a Dwyer reunion on the weekend.

They were relatives that Terry hadn't seen in years....and some that my children had never met!

We had so much fun together.

They stayed at the Sands on Golden Lake....they pretty much took over the entire resort!

There was fun in the water.....

and a ball game right on the shore....luckily nothing got broken!...

and there were stories told and lots of laughs...

and music....

and we invited them to our farm....

It was good.

Last Week

Walk into a nursing home with three pretty, dressed up girls and you'll feel like a celebrity.

There was shouting and hooting and hollering.

A resident was sitting in the front lounge and she needed to talk to Lydia.....of course Lydia wasn't so sure about it.

But I reassured her...and we spoke to the woman....and she was overjoyed.

"You make me so happy."...that's what she kept saying.

We chatted for a few minutes and I realized that we had a lot in common...she was also once a farmer's wife.  She was super excited when we told her that we were here for the birthday party.  The girls were going to fiddle and dance.

And eat cake.

I love taking my children to these kinds of events.  You just need to show up and you feel loved.

That was on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we went with a 4-H group on a farm tour of McGregor's Produce just outside of Renfrew.

And the raspberries were ripe....and so so good!

On Thursday, we hosted a 4-H Sheep meeting at our place.

And Lydia finished up her T-ball season.

And sunbeams came out of the clouds just before sunset.

And the boys worked at the hay.  I guess I need to take some pictures of them.

And I made 21 pies.

That sums up last week.

Eganville Farmers' Market

I'm back at the Eganville Farmers' Market this year.

We are at a new location....the parking lot of the Grace Lutheran Church....and it's working out quite nicely.  We are on the 'main drag'.....and so there are a lot more people stopping in that are just passing through.  It has become a very busy market.

I've branded myself with then name of 'The Farmer's Fork'.  I do all my baking at another farmhouse kitchen....not the one that my family lives in.  I'm hoping to get this kitchen 'certified' as a commercial kitchen.

I make pies....because people love pie.

My newest pie is the double crusted lemon pie.  It's so so good.

I also make cinnamon buns.

and raspberry buns.

and buttertarts.

and I serve beef (our beef) on a wrap with some sautéed sweet onions and peppers.

Here's the set up...

The view from our tent....

The Pizza Farm is right beside us...

Johanna and I had a chicken pesto pizza last week.  AMAZING.

Engine House Coffee is on the other side of us.

Along with Genevieve Townsend's amazing creations.  She's a faery artist!

There is also maple syrup.

And apple cider from Coronation Hall Cider Mills.

And knitting.

And soap from Earthy Essentials.

And preserves and produce.

And there are a few other bakers.....including Beth's Kitchen.

And bread.   And homemade dog treats.  And lamb.  And grass fed beef.  And plants and herbs.  And rabbits.  And more.

It's a really fun market...every Friday from 2-6 p.m.

Sun on the Canola

Last year our neighbours planted corn in the front field.

This year they have planted canola.

It's beautiful....but it smells a little funny.

And the sun always seems to shine on it.

I took all of these photos when I was barbecuing supper.

A storm was passing on this evening.

And on another evening it was just a little cloudy....

But somehow when it shady here, the sun always seems to shine on the canola.
